What Goes Around….

For My Mum

A-penny-for-those-thoughts

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I and you are you

Whatever we were to each other

That we are still

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way you always used

Put no difference into your tone

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow

Laugh as we always laughed

At the little jokes we always enjoyed together

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was

Let it be spoken without effort

Without the ghost of a shadow in it

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolute unbroken continuity

What is death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind

Because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you for an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost

One brief moment and all will be as it was before

How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Mum,

2 years ago today you were taken from us.

Two years on the pain of your loss still hurts. especially today.

R.I.P. my lovely Mum, I miss you so much.

Always in my thoughts, forever in my heart

All my love always

Two years later, and I’m back where I was when Mum died.

The same restaurant, the same place, the same people….It’s a tradition here that for anniversaries of a loss of a loved one, you go to a church to offer prayers ( which I haven’t managed to do ) and then get balistically drunk, which I intend to do.

It’s been a strange day, being here, reliving those awful days, especially today, looking at the clock, thinking this time two years ago, she only had x amount of hours / minutes left to live…and knowing now, that I had already seen her for the last time…

Sadness, tears, and a general feeling of loss and grief have been my companions for the last few days.

Time to move on, Mum would have hated it to think that she was spoiling our holiday.. so for today I’m wearing black and I will raise my glass ( more than one! ) to my dear lovely Mum.

Tomorrow is another day…..

With special thanks to Christina who has been through so much more than I have, and come through all those dark times, and Kathy, in whose footsteps I now follow.

Thank you to everyone that has written words of support and kindness.

I can’t tell you how much you’ve all helped and how much  I appreciate your kindess

5th August 2011- Flowers

On the 5th August 2011 we had my Mum’s funeral,

These words were for my Mum on her flowers that day

Mum,

We miss your sounds and your sights

Your laughs and cries

Your sense of humour, your sweetness and kindness,

But most of all we miss you my dear.

No chance now for one last chat

No chance now for one last kiss

No chance now for us to ask you

No chance now for us tell you

Just how much we really love you

And how much we are going to so so miss you

Death is so final, the end for every thing here

No more chats no more chuckles

No more laughs no more struggles

No more pain

Just peace

All your memories 80 years of them,

Gone like snowflakes in the sunlight

Never forgotten, you will always be in our thoughts

Goodbye my love, sleep tight, rest in peace

Until we meet again, all our love , always

The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus

As some of you might know, I am very interested in Scuba Diving & marine life in general and I came across this really interesting article recently, regarding a species of  Octopus.

This group of animals are collectively know as Cephalopods.
and include Squid, Octopus, Cuttlefish and surprisingly Starfish, and are usually found exclusively in water……

which is what makes this particular fellow so interesting.

Click on the links  and have a read about this interesting critter, feel free to leave a comment if you want to .

Hello world!

Hello World indeed…. a title chosen by me by this newfangled wordpress thingy 😦 I haven’t logged on to msn for ages ( Septemberish in fact) then when I did I’ve been forced to ” migrate “.. I feel like a homeless person that has been chucked out of the hostel!

Well here I am anyway, if anyone is interested, forgive the appearance, it’s late, and it’s the first time I’ve posted anything on here, so I’m not sure if / how anything works… I’ve not even had time for a look areound yet, so I don’t even know if I can put photo albums etc on here.. and if the ones on msn have come over. 😦

Please bear with me, and if there is anyone out there who remembers me, feel free to drop in.

I can’t promise any interesting stuff, but it would be nice to say hi :-[) ( also any tips would be gratefully accepted )

Here endeth the first entry started 1.1.11

Catch Up & Ketchup

That ought to be mayonnaise really as I never have ketchup .. or brown sauce, mint sauce, apple sauce, and all those other sauces that folks put on their dinners
I prefer to have my nosh as it comes.. though I’m a tad fond of gravy…. northern boys lurve gravy!!
Well catch up, firstly where’s the blooming summer gone?? I believe we had a few days of sun, and it’s done not much more than rain ever since  , my bike will be thinking we’ve fallen out..and talking about summer, it’s been quite eventful.
As you might know, the Dogs ( that’s us by the way) are in to scuba diving, and this summer we were very lucky to go on a liveaboard dive boat and spend a week floating around the Red Sea, enjoying the scenery, the ( rather large ) fish, and some hard diving.
This sadly doesn’t qualify as a holiday ( bloody hard work!! ), so we are of to the sunny island of Kos for a  couple of weeks.  and boy do we need the rest.
However, this year I’m going to take my lappy with us, and try to get some wifi access and blog from abroad ( yeah yeah, I know I can’t do it from here, so what chance have I got from there  )
Well doubters, as I say IF  I can get internet access ( which is probable ) I’m likely to have a bit of time on my hands, so instead of wanking about doing sod all, I might just try it…what do you think,  worth it or not????
Answers on the back of a postcard please

The new footy season has started, and GOD has departed.
Monday afternoon my phone started going apeshit as texts and calls came through with the news…. Martin O’Neill has resigned.. 5 DAYS before the start of the season!! WTF!!!
However Super mac has taken the reins ( temporarily), and led the Claret & blue glory boys to a superb win over the other claret chappies,West Ham- now run by the ex-jokers from Birmingham City, continuing in the manner they always have- and got a passable draw against the bally hun team Rapid Vienna….

Stop press!!
I dont believe it!!!
The Claret & blue glory boys ( Villa) have just been spanked off the park by Newcastle United
recent relegation fodder, and returnees to the premier league
6 fucking 0
I believe the expression is
WHAT THE FUCK????
The barcodes are relegation fodder, what on earth is going on, we were all over them, Carew missed a penalty, and then we fell to bits.. for fucks sake we even made Routledge look good..and that twat Joey Barton
Joey Barton today celebrating scoring against Villa..wanker!
Thank  goodness we are going on our hols soon, I’m honestly not sure if I can take the embarrasment.. Monday is going to be a long long day…

Anyway, we’re off very soon, so the next instalment will hopefully come from the sunny isle of Kos, where the temperature is 28c NOW (2.30am local time, wahay!!!)
Take care all, see you on the flip side, if not before….
Smoke me a kipper. I’ll be back for breakfast
Ciao for now

Alive Alive oh!

Well folks I am still actually alive, still here and probably writing for myself by now.
Lots have happened since I last blogged, life has been incredibly busy, and I’ve had THE virus..you know, the one that kicks you square in the nuts, and makes you feel like death is in fact the better option.
Yes . I know all the old wives tales about blokes getting it worse than chicks, but this time I really have……
No energy, no joie de vive , and definitely no mojo.

I’ve not been exercising ( tut tut fatty), not been blogging, just going to work, coming home and not going to sleep at night..what a bummer!

We have been on a boat in the middle of the red sea for a week ( pre virus – thank fuck! ), dived with sharks, eels, turtles, .. all sorts of stuff.. a fuller tale hopefully will emerge from the pages in the near future.

I’m not sure what has changed in my life that is stopping me getting on here.. perhaps Mrs. Dog not studying anymore, perhaps because I’m so busy at work, I don’t even get a chance to log on and have a quick look…..perhaps my real world has started to take over my cyber world..which has left me thinking

Over the last 5 years(ish) that I’ve been doing this blogging stuff, I’ve met ( cyber speaking) quite a few people.
Some of the folks have been passing ships at night, the sort of rum cove that a chap wouldn’t look twice at in real life, and certainly wouldn’t talk to under any circumstances.
But a lot of them have been sound people, and a few of them I would really like to get to know better.
They have stories to tell, lives to live, and struggles to fight.
I’ve been through traumas with few, given support, and genuinely been very upset by some of the tales I’ve read… and I’m worried I’m going to lose contact with these people, not because it’s their fault, more because it’s mine……
What to do?
Let this space go.. and lose contact with some people that the I really care about, or just junk it, put it in mothballs, and check it every so often..
Or go the other way, and spend all my time on here ( that’s not going to happen- a divorce would follow shortly afterwards! )
Time for a bit of hard thinking about the word " compromise"

Take care folks, I will try to put some pics, and a highly amusing /informative  blog for your perusal.
G’night folks, but for a few special people an extra special G’night..

Kenny- good luck my friend, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jes, always in my thoughts, yours is a story that is truly moving.
Kathy – go girl.. life has turned round for you at last.. long may it last!
Carol.. no longer a student nurse, now fully fledged, well done babe
Sarah, long time no speak, I’ve really missed your hugs, come back soon….
and to any I’ve missed, sorry folks!

Alive alive o… yes I suppose I am!

52 names…. 52 people … 52 families devastated by 4 men.
Typing these names into this entry, putting pictures to the names, every one has a family, every one was just going to work or out to town.
Did they really deserve this?

I was on holiday when this was happening, sitting on a beach laughing when people were being blown to bits.
We only found out about it because a tv was on in the hotel lounge.
My brother works in Canary Wharf. Mobile networks were in meltdown,  no calls were getting through, no texts, nothing.
Scary scary feeling, worring about a member of your family, not  knowing if he was dead or alive , and praying that he had got to work early… or late.

After about 3 hours of wanting to spew, finally I got a text message comfirming he was ok.
I got very drunk that night.

Lest we forget
